Our story
Turning a local resource into solutions
The idea for EMERWALL was born from a twofold observation.
Founded on 6 April 2021 and based in Ducos, Martinique, EMERWALL develops and manufactures solutions locally from plant fibres, in particular from the sugarcane industry.
On the one hand, sugarcane mills generate large volumes of bagasse, a fibrous residue that is still insufficiently upcycled. Like many agricultural wastes, this resource is often under-used or destined for low value-added applications, even though it has real upcycling potential.
On the other hand, tropical territories need materials suited to construction, fit-out and renovation, while a large share of the available solutions is imported.
EMERWALL was born from these two observations: to create new applications from local plant resources.
Our work is based on research, development and mastery of the processes that turn these fibres into materials suited to different uses.
This approach has given rise to several solutions, including EMERFLEX, our range of plant-fibre panels for insulation, and EMERSPACE, developed to meet fit-out and space creation needs.
These solutions are developed from raw materials sourced from the territory, in particular 100% Martinique bagasse, collected from partner distilleries.

Why the French West Indies?
The choice of the French West Indies is directly linked to the origin of the project.
Martinique brought together the conditions at the origin of the EMERWALL project: a locally established sugarcane industry, a resource available in quantity and specific needs linked to tropical climate conditions.
At the same time, a large share of the construction and fit-out materials used in the territory is imported.
Creating EMERWALL in Martinique therefore made it possible to bring the resource, its processing and the territory’s needs closer together, while developing a local industrial activity.
Today, this location enables EMERWALL to take part in a genuine industry-wide vision: working with partners from the sugarcane industry to upcycle bagasse locally, while collaborating with players specialising in research, bio-based materials and industrialisation.
It is in this environment that EMERWALL today develops solutions from local plant fibres.

The founders
Three engineers founded EMERWALL around a shared ambition: to turn local plant resources into useful, high-performance solutions designed to be produced on an industrial scale.
Their complementary expertise now makes it possible to master the entire development of EMERWALL solutions, from research and development through to industrialisation and commercialisation.
